I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong. I see this often when my stories receive responses and the notifications are late. With my tech hat on, believe this is just an issue with how data is synchronized across different stores. Large systems store multiple copies of the same data and when the data is changed (such as you publishing a story) every copy of that data should be updated. If the system is creaking a bit, sometimes it takes a bit of time for the updates to go through everywhere. And if your view of the story is served by a not-yet-updated data store, you see old data and the story does not look published. Maybe wait a few minutes, Mike. If it doesn’t catch up, shout at Medium Support!
