I think what Medium didn’t envision most of all is that the writers who want to get paid usually want to get paid a decent amount! And appetites have been whetted by the fact that those who started in the first few months did get reasonable pay outs. I’m one of those who joined in late, so I couldn’t make any hay while the sun really shone down. Story of my life, really. Haha!

Though I’m not really complaining that much. I had a writing gig elsewhere early in the year and all I was handed out was clickbait topics that got split into slide shows for no reason other than more pages mean more ad views. I got so fed up. Here, I can write the poem I want and if it’s good, there is a reasonable chance I’ll make some (maybe not a lot) money out of it. We have our issues with Medium and we make our suggestions but it already is better for casual (or aspiring) writers than anything else out there.

And especially for poetry/fiction, we also have this community. That, in itself, is worth its price in gold!
