When a river is raped
She lies under a darkening sky
Innocent and pure,
Insecure,
While they hover on the edge
With their polythene offerings,
Licking their lecherous lips,
Tempted by her beauty,
Unrestrained,
Awaiting nightfall
To prey on her nakedness,
Their bows on her skin
Thrusting forward,
Oars scooping her nectar,
Slicing her open with their blades,
Leaving her placid waters torn,
Her wounds corrupted
By the slush of their sewage
As they howl to the wind,
Sailing away satiated,
Unaware that her rage
Will one day turn the sky scarlet,
Raising a mace of torrents,
To strike down upon their souls,
Feast on their flesh
And send them cowering to
Die the terrible deaths they deserve.
